FOR WRINKLES, SCARS AND SUN DAMAGE

The pulsed carbon dioxide (CO2) laser and the newer erbium (Er:YAG) lasers resurface the skin by first removing the old outer skin layers that will regenerate and form an new outer layer.

Secondly, the laser has a deeper dermal effect in the skin where it stimulates new collagen production and remodelling of dermal collagen including old scar tissue. This results in the elimination or reduction of wrinkles, rejuvenation of sun-aged skin and softening or removal of some scars.

A combination of both these lasers may be used to attain the best results in some people. There is a 7-14 day recovery period after which patients may return to work.

The new skin will be red/pink that will gradually fading over several weeks to months. This is an indication of the deeper skin healing and new collagen being produced. Hence the best results are seen several months later.

This collagen remodelling and synthesis process can be further enhanced by using topical creams containing therapeutic doses of vitamin A and C. Our doctors will advise you of the recommended skin care programme to get most out of the treatment and maintain the results.
