The treatment of sun damaged skin, rosacea, acne scarring and general improvement in skin texture and colour can be achieved by using several different procedures. The best choice for your condition can be made only after the doctors at Ada have obtained your medical history, your expectations and examined your skin.

Below are the different types of skin rejuvenation procedures available at Áda:

1. Photorejuvenation - non-ablative laser/IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment designed to penetrate into the lower layers of skin without injuring the outer layers. Thus removing broken capillaries, pigmentation and stimulating new collagen to improve skin texture. At Ada we use combination KTP and Nd:YAG lasers and the latest IPL device. Safe for face, neck, chest and hands.

Minimal recovery time, most will be able to resume normal activities next day. Depending on the individual, several treatments at 2-4 week intervals will be necessary to achieve optimal results.

3. Laser Resurfacing - is an ablative laser technique that removes the outer old skin layers and further stimulates deeper new collagen growth and collagen remodelling. The carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium lasers are both used at Áda. After this treatment 1-2 weeks recovery time or time off work will be necessary. Most will only need one treatment.

This treatment is best suited for the face for more severe sun damage, wrinkles or acne scars and carries greater potential for side effects.

4. Medical Needling (Roll-CIT) - can be used as an alternative to laser resurfacing in people not suitable for laser or wishing for a less invasive procedure.

The needling procedure activates a cascade effect by releasing factors that stimulate collagen growth and remodelling of the dermis. Also the needling creates channels into the dermis of the skin so that when topical vitamin A and C is applied it will readily be transported deep into the skin to aid the collagen synthesis and remodelling process that has been activated. Hence the term percutaneous collagen induction (CIT) also is used by some to describe this process.

It can be used on all areas of the body for sun damage, acne scarring, wrinkles and stretchmarks, with a short 5-7 day recovery.

6. Microdermabrasion - This procedure uses a steady stream of fine crystals to the skin, which gently peels the outer skin layers and stimulates deeper collagen growth.
