Mesotherapy is a non-surgical technique first pioneered by French Physician Dr Michael Pistor in 1952. It involves the micro-injection of medicines and vitamins into the skin to target problem areas.
Mesotherapy using different medications can also be used to improve cellulite and facial skin texture; however, more treatment sessions are usually required.
'Lipodissolve' is a process by which this technique is used to dissolve small fat deposits from areas where the body tends to pocket fat – for example the ‘love handles,’ abdomen, saddlebags, bra bulge, inner arm and waist.
Customised medications are injected into these specific areas, where they break down the fat cells which are then naturally flushed from the body. Usually 4 treatments spaced 1 month apart are required, but more may be needed depending on individual results.
There is some discomfort involved during treatment, with most people experiencing a burning sensation in the area for up to one hour. The area may remain tender and bruised for up to one week, and is frequently swollen for a few days afterwards.
No compression garments are required and people can usually resume work the same day if they wear soft, loose-fitting clothing.
